Southern rock music pioneer Gregg Allman dies

Reaction to the death of Southern rock music legend Gregg Allman at age 69: “IVE TRIED.WORDS ARE IMPOSSIBLE GUI GUI FOREVER, CHOOCH” – Allman’s ex-wife Cher, via Twitter.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce that Gregg Allman, a founding member of The Allman Brothers Band, passed away peacefully at his home in Savannah, Georgia”, it said.

He’d recently cancelled all his remaining concerts for 2017, refunding fans. At separate times in the new millennium, hepatitis C treatments, a liver transplant and lung surgery sidelined him for months, but he always returned to the road with the Allmans or leading an ace solo band.

Allman spent 45 years as part of the Allman Brothers band. Duane talked his brother into joining a racially integrated band, the House Rockers, shocking their mother. It is set for release later this year, though it’s worth wondering if anything will be altered with it now.
